PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A 7-year-old boy is being praised for helping to alert firefighters to a fire at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Angel Jimenez, of Providence, was visiting his sibling at the hospital when the fire broke out shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Nobody was injured.
Angel saw the fire and told his mother, who alerted staff.
Hospital spokesman David Levesque says Providence firefighters received about a dozen calls.
Hasbro is in Providence and part of the Lifespan Health System. Lifespan President Tim Babineau called the boy a “hero.”
Levesque said Wednesday that the cause is still under investigation. He says the fire was contained to the roof and no evacuations had to be made.
Workers had been on the roof earlier in the day.
