OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The $22 billion sale of First Data to Fiserv raises questions about the future of First Data’s roughly 5,000 employees in Omaha.
The companies announced the all-stock deal Wednesday.
First Data, based in New York, says it facilitates $2.4 trillion in transactions each year. The company traces its history back to Omaha, Nebraska, when it was known at the Mid-America Bankcard Association in 1971.
First Data shareholders will receive about .30 shares of Fiserv for every share of First Data they own
Fiserv, based in Brookfield, Wisconsin, specializes in financial services technology related to electronic payments and processing.
