Attorney General nominee William Barr said Tuesday China, not Russia, is the biggest threat to the United States.
“I think the primary rival of the United States is China,” he told the Senate Judiciary Committee. “Russia is half the size it was when we were facing them at the peak of the cold war. I’m concerned the fixation on Russia will not obscure the danger from China.”
Mr. Barr called Russia “a potent rival” saying President Vladimir Putin wants to weaken the American alliances in Europe. He also said he had “no doubt” Russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.
