FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) - The union representing Wright State University faculty members has voted to authorize a strike.
Members of the Wright State chapter of the American Association of University Professors voted Sunday to authorize the strike at the school in southwestern Ohio to begin Tuesday, Jan. 22. A union news release Monday said 85 percent of those voting supported the strike authorization.
About 560 of the university’s faculty of 1,700 belong to the union.
The union rejected the latest employment terms issued by the school’s Board of Trustees. Those terms involve areas including health care and pay.
The university said in a release that it’s disappointed in the union vote. The release says the university has negotiated “in good faith” and has put forth the best employment terms it could.
