ATLANTA (AP) - The airport in Atlanta and some of its related businesses are taking steps to help workers and passengers cope with the partial government shutdown.
Elise Durham, a spokeswoman for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, says in a Tuesday email that some concession providers at the airport are providing lunch for unpaid Transportation Security Administration workers. And, Durham says, the airport is providing complimentary parking for those TSA workers who need it.
Also, the airport is providing live music at checkpoints to ease tension for passengers in security lines.
The moves come as the number of airport security screeners failing to show up for work around the country has been rising.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta is the world’s busiest airport. Some passengers waited more than an hour to get through its checkpoints Monday.
