President Trump strongly denied Monday ever working with or on behalf of Russia, after several reports detailed how the FBI was concerned about the president’s loyalty.

“I never worked for Russia,” he told reporters outside the White House. “Not only did I never work for Russia, I think it’s a disgrace that you even asked that question because it’s a whole big fat hoax. It’s just a hoax.”

Over the weekend, The New York Times reported that the FBI launched an investigation of the president after he fired former FBI Director James B. Comey because they were concerned he did so to benefit Russia.

On Monday, CNN reported that the FBI heavily debated if the president was innocent or working closely with the Russian government before launching the investigation.

He slammed former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former FBI employee Lisa Page, former agent Peter Strzok and Mr. Comey for being involved in starting the investigation and said they “are known scoundrels.”

Mr. Trump defended firing Mr. Comey in 2017 and claimed it was a “great service” for the country. He cited the FBI’s questioning of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during their investigation of her private email servers as evidence that he was justified in removing Mr. Comey.
