ATLANTA (AP) - An indictment says a man has been charged in his wife’s death after they were both shot outside of a metro Atlanta Popeyes.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Michael Dale LaVigne was arrested Saturday after being indicted on charges, including felony murder.

LaVigne and 35-year-old Alisha Watkins Stephens had been married for just two weeks when they were shot at the DeKalb County restaurant in October. Stephens died from her injuries. LaVigne was critically injured.

Investigators say they went to Popeyes to buy meth. The indictment says LaVigne was robbed at gunpoint. It says he pulled out a gun and struck Stephens during a shootout with a possible gang member.

Nineteen-year-old Carlos Rodriguez was charged with murder and indicted.

It’s unclear if Rodriguez and LaVigne have lawyers who could comment.
