New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton wanted to get his team riled up for the playoffs by showing them the Lombardi Trophy and $225,000 in cash — the bonus each player earns for winning the Super Bowl.
That was reported earlier in the week, but it happened behind closed doors. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed a photo of what the pile looked like Sunday:
You heard the story from @JonDeTrinis of #Saints coach Sean Payton coming into his locker room with armed guards, cash and a Super Bowl trophy as motivation? For the first time, here is what it looked like: pic.twitter.com/DVij0t77z9

What would you do with all that cash?
Armed guards had to be with the trophy and money at all times when Payton brought it to the Saints’ locker room.
The No. 1 Saints, who many regarded as the best team in the NFL most of the year, face the No. 6 Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The winner advances to the NFC Championship Game.
