BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A Montana woman has been sentenced to probation and house arrest after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $1 million from her employer.

The Billings Gazette reports April Drake Greer was ordered Friday to serve five years of probation, including a year under house arrest.

She must also pay $1.2 million in restoration to her former employer, Wildlife Defense Systems of Red Lodge, and to Travelers Casualty and Surety Co.

Greer worked for the wildfire company from 2010 until June 2017. She served as human resources director and controller.

Prosecutors said she transferred money from the company’s account into her own, then altered bank statements in an attempt to hide it.

The company declined comment Friday.
