LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Texas Tech has hired Oklahoma assistant and former NFL defensive back Kerry Cooks to be safeties coach.

The school in Lubbock on Friday announced the hiring of Cooks, who’s spent nine seasons at Oklahoma and previously was an assistant at Notre Dame.

Cooks, who was an All-Big Ten selection as a senior in 1997 at Iowa, was selected in the fifth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
