PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The biggest of gathering of Mainers ringing in the new year with an icy plunge is back.
The 32nd Lobster Dip is being held after record cold put the tradition on ice last year. The event at Old Orchard Beach is a fundraiser for Maine Special Olympics.
In 2018, Dippers raised more than $100,000 dollars even though there was no dip.
The temperature on New Year’s Day is going to be balmy compared to a year ago, with a high temperature of about 40 degrees.
