BRIDGTON, Maine (AP) - A citizens’ group is calling for Central Maine Healthcare to give up Bridgton Hospital so another organization can take over medical care in the area.
The Sun Journal reports the Pondicherry Group says the hospital system has been plagued with too much turnover and Bridgton-area patients are increasingly going elsewhere for treatment.
The group also cited concerns over the quality of medical care and said Central Maine Healthcare has not established a plan for the area.
CMHC executive vice president David Tupponce said Thursday Bridgton Hospital is not for sale.
Tupponce also questioned the group, saying it was led by a “disgruntled former employee” at Central Maine Healthcare.
Former employee Robert Slattery says he is not disgruntled. He says he left CMHC because he disagreed with the health system’s direction.
