President Trump, who doesn’t smoke or drink but loves fast food, is getting his annual physical exam Friday.
Mr. Trump, 72, will receive his second checkup as president at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. The nearly 4-hour-long exam is being performed by Dr. Sean Conley, a Navy veteran who is now the president’s personal physician.
Last year, then-White House physician Adm. Ronny Jackson proclaimed the president in “excellent” health. But he recommended that Mr. Trump lose 10 or 15 pounds from his 6-foot-3, 239-pound frame.
At the time, the president had a body-mass index of 29.9. A score of 30 or higher is considered obese by the National Institutes of Health.
His total cholesterol was 223 last year, and Mr. Trump was taking statins to help lower it.
Adm. Jackson praised the president for having “great genes” and said he scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which helps to detect mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease.
The president doesn’t exercise, other than playing golf.
Last March, Mr. Trump nominated Adm. Jackson to become secretary of Veterans Affairs. But he withdrew from consideration after allegations of misconduct that are under investigation.
Adm. Jackson remained on the White House staff, and the president promoted him last week to chief medical adviser.
