Colin Kaepernick thanked Rihanna on Monday after the pop artist posted on Instagram that she skipped watching the Super Bowl because of the quarterback’s unemployment in the NFL.

Rihanna posted on her Instagram story an artist rendering of Kaepernick taking a knee and included the message “For those of you who thought I was watchin (the) Super Bowl… we beefin.”

Kaepernick responded on Twitter, saying he appreciated her “keepin it 100.”

Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2016. He later filed a grievance against the league, alleging owners colluded to keep him unsigned over his protests and political beliefs.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback was the first player to take a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality.

In October, it was reported Rihanna turned down a chance to perform during this year’s halftime show over Kaepernick not being in the NFL.
