FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) - A 75-year-old Connecticut man charged with killing his ex-wife has been held on $2 million bond.

Police say James Taylor broke into the Fairfield home at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday and shot 70-year-old Catherine Taylor.

Police say James Taylor then got into an altercation with the woman’s 45-year-old son, who was not injured. Police released a booking photo showing Taylor with bandages on his head and a large cut on his left cheek. The son was not charged.

Taylor appeared in court Monday to face charges of murder, attempted murder, home invasion, burglary, assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm.

His case was not listed in online judicial records and it could not be determined if he has a lawyer.

He’s due back in court Feb. 19.
