RUMFORD, Maine (AP) - A former Mainer is set to film his crime thriller “Allagash” in western Maine.

The Portland Press Herald reports that filming for writer and director John Barr’s movie will take place in Rumford and Mexico, Maine and wooded areas near Bethel.

The film stars actor Tom Berenger as a retired military veteran who finds a dead woman and a lot of money.

The film’s producer, Suza Horvat, said that Barr grew up in Cumberland and spent summers in hunting, fishing and exploring in the Allagash River area.
