Rep. Ilhan Omar, newly elected Democratic congresswoman, has criticized Israel for many things, some of which are factually wrong (“Rep. Ilhan Omar compares Israel to Jim Crow-era South,” Web, Feb. 1). Contrary to her stated belief that Israel is a democracy for Jews only, Israel recognizes other religions and its adherents as voting citizens. Ms. Omar might want to comment on the statement made by the president of the putative state of Palestine that Jews will not be allowed residence, citizenship or voting rights.

Expecting that she will become a martyr for her cause, Ms. Omar claims that “They can attack, spin my words and vilify me, but they will not succeed in silencing me.” Who wants to silence such mendacity? I hope she continues to speak loudly and clearly; her comments will soon enough rank her as an ignorant bigot.
