CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The state Legislature has passed legislation to spur more than $300 million of new student dormitories on the University of Wyoming’s campus in Laramie.

The Laramie Boomerang reports that House Bill 293 was approved by lawmakers on Wednesday and now goes to Gov. Mark Gordon’s desk.

The measure includes $49 million in loans to the university to help jump start the project to replace student dorms that are more than 50 years old.

It also directs the university to create a task force that will include several lawmakers to help oversee the project.
