Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy verbally harassed referees at his stepson’s high school basketball game Tuesday, and now the refs involved have filed a formal complaint against him.
A Fox affiliate in Wisconsin determined that McCarthy followed three referees out of the gym after a game; security footage showed him shouting toward them. The athletic director of the opposing team said McCarthy “berated” them with “unsportsmanlike language.”

McCarthy, who won Super Bowl XLV with the Packers, was fired by the team after 12 games in 2018. He had coached Green Bay since 2006.
He was interested in the New York Jets’ head coach opening, but after not finding a new job, he said he would sit out a season and try to return to the NFL in 2020.
