PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say carjackers stole a vehicle at gunpoint and then drove off while a man and 6-year-old boy were still in the vehicle.

The carjacking occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Authorities say the boy’s father was forced from the Mercedes R350 before by a group of men before they drove off. The boy and a family friend were then released unharmed a few minutes later.

The two then walked for more than a mile before they were found by police. The father wasn’t hurt.

The abandoned car was found on a Philadelphia street around 9 p.m.

Investigators say it’s not yet clear if the carjacking was random or if the victims knew the suspects.
