INDIANAPOLIS — Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim didn’t exactly give a ringing endorsement of quarterback Josh Rosen on Wednesday — fueling rumors the team could look to draft quarterback Kyler Murray with the first overall pick in April.
The Cardinals are coming off a 3-13 season.
“Is Josh Rosen our quarterback?” Keim said at the scouting combine. “Yeah. He is right now, for sure.”
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, too, once said he would draft Murray first overall if he could. But that comment came in October, when Kingsbury was still the head coach at Texas Tech and preparing for Oklahoma — long before he knew the Cardinals job would ever be a possibility.
Kingsbury said earlier this month that he was just trying to praise an opponent, adding, Rosen is “our guy.”
Rosen, drafted 10th overall in 2018, had a mixed rookie campaign, throwing for 2,278 yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 14 games.
Despite Kingsbury’s endorsement of Rosen, Keim’s latest comment won’t stop people from wondering if Murray remains an option for the Cardinals at No. 1 — especially having noting “right now.”
