RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on another big winter storm blowing into the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe (all times local):
3 p.m.
Winds are gusting in excess of 100 mph (160 kph) over the ridges of the Sierra Nevada where a fierce winter storm is forecast to bring up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) of snow to the tops of the mountains above Lake Tahoe over the next three days.
The cold front toppled trucks and downed power lines in the valleys along the Sierra’s eastern front on Monday, forcing the temporary closure of the main highway between Reno and Carson City. At least one person suffered a non-life threatening injury.
At one point as many as 6,000 NV Energy customers were without power, but power had been restored to about half by Monday afternoon.
Winds gusting to 110 mph (177 kph) were recorded at the summit of the Squaw Valley ski resort near Lake Tahoe, and up to 84 mph (135 kph) in the Washoe Valley where Interstate 580 was closed off and on south of Reno.

Winds gusting up to 80 mph (129 kph) toppled trucks, downed power lines and temporarily closed part of a highway south of Reno as another big winter storm started blowing into the Sierra Nevada.
About 4,500 NV Energy customers were without power shortly after noon Monday in the Reno-Sparks area, about three-fourths of them south of town on the edge of the Washoe Valley.
The Nevada Department of Transportation closed U.S. Interstate 580 in the valley for about an hour between Reno and Carson City after two truck trailers overturned Monday morning. There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
The National Weather Service says sustained winds up to 57 mph (92 kph) were recorded on bridges in the valley with an 80 mph (129 kph) gust just north of Washoe City.
The service says winds could gust as high as 140 mph (225 kph) over the ridgetops above Lake Tahoe, where as much as 8 feet (3 meters) of snow is possible over the next three days.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the Tahoe area until 4 a.m. Thursday.

Strong, gusty winds toppled two trucks on U.S. Interstate 580 south of Reno as another big winter storm started to make its way into the Sierra Nevada.
The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District responded to reports of two truck trailers overturned at about 11 a.m. Monday along the side of the highway in the Washoe Valley about 6 miles (10 kilometers) north of Carson City where winds were gusting up to 60 mph (100 kph).
The Nevada Department of Transportation closed the highway to all trucks taller than 9 feet (2.7 meters).
The National Weather Service reported sustained winds of 30 mph (50 kph) Monday morning at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, with gusts up to 51 mph (82 kph).

Another big winter storm is headed for the Sierra Nevada, with as much as 8 feet (2.4 meters) of snow possible in the upper elevations around Lake Tahoe over the next three days.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Monday for the area through Thursday morning.
The forecast calls for winds gusting as high as 60 mph (100 kph) with gusts in excess of 140 mph (225 kph) over ridgetops. The service says periods of white-out conditions are likely.
Two to 4 feet (60 to 120 centimeters) of snow is expected to accumulate over the three days, with 4 to 8 feet (1.5 to 3 meters) possible above 7,000 feet (2,100 meters).
A winter weather advisory goes into effect Monday night stretching from 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of Tahoe to 100 miles north of Reno.
