COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island say a Coventry man who crashed into a utility pole has died from his injuries.

The Coventry Fire and Police Department arrived to the scene of the crash Sunday afternoon after receiving reports of a single car crashed into a utility pole. Officials say bystanders had been performing CPR on the driver until emergency services arrived.

The 53-year-old driver was rushed to an area hospital where he died of his injuries about 40 minutes later. Police identified him as Darwin T. Collins of Coventry.

Members of the Coventry Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating.
