WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - An instructor pilot who was killed when a small plane he was in crashed at a Massachusetts airport is being described as a loving father and dedicated teacher.

Police said Sydney Miti, of Waltham, and Julian Lattermann, of Dover, were killed on impact in Saturday’s crash at the Mansfield Municipal Airport.

Miti’s uncle tells The Boston Globe that his nephew came to the U.S. from Uganda in 2011. Prince Henry E. Ssuuna says Miti had a passion for teaching and loved to inspire others who wanted to fly.

Miti’s uncle says “he gave everything to get his dreams.”

Miti lived in Waltham and leaves behind a wife and 2-year-old son.

The National Transportation Safety Board along with the Federal Aviation Administration and state police are investigating the crash.
