PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Officials say enrollments onto Rhode island’s health insurance exchange increased by nearly 2,000 customers in 2019.

Officials said Monday that nearly 32,500 customers had enrolled in and paid for coverage through HealthSource RI as of Jan. 31 compared to about 30,600 at the same time last year.

The state’s latest Health Information Survey showed that 3.7 percent of Rhode Islanders were uninsured in 2018. That’s an all-time low. Officials say more than 1 million Rhode Islanders have health coverage.

Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo says in a statement that “the Affordable Care Act is working in Rhode Island.”
