President Trump called for lower oil prices Monday morning, urging the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries against price hikes.

“Oil prices getting too high. OPEC, please relax and take it easy. World cannot take a price hike - fragile!” he tweeted.

Multiple reports have pointed out that the price of crude oil fell Monday morning by 1 percent after the president’s tweet.

The president’s comments came as oil prices were creeping toward a 2019 high, according to Reuters.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly criticized OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) on Twitter in 2018 and claimed credit for the falling prices in November.
