LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming would receive $17.4 million in new funding under the final supplemental budget bill that passed the state Legislature.

The Laramie Boomerang reports that UW had originally asked for about $19.4 million in supplemental budget funding.

One of the major changes from the original budget bill is $3 million that’s been added in new funding for UW’s engineering initiative. The final bill also provides $1 million for the college’s Science Initiative, which is half of what UW asked for.

It appropriates $2.7 million for salary increases at UW, which is in line with the university’s request.

The measure requires UW to provide a report by October on how it will dole out the salary increased.

The supplemental budget was sent to Gov. Mark Gordon for his review.
