PITTSBURGH (AP) - Police have identified remains found buried in a Pittsburgh backyard as a woman who lived at the home in the 1960s.
Authorities said Thursday a DNA match from a living family member shows the remains found last year belong to Mary Arcuri.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Alicia George says Arcuri purchased the home with her husband, Albert Arcuri.
Police say he told family members his wife left him in 1964 and had taken her clothing and personal items with her. No missing person report was filed, and police were never notified.
Albert Arcuri died in a car crash in Pittsburgh a year later.
Contractors found Mary Arcuri’s remains beneath a concrete slab in February 2018 while doing construction work.
No charges have been filed in the ongoing investigation.
