TAYLOR, Mich. (AP) - The mayor of a Detroit suburb is defending his commitment to public service after the FBI executed multiple search warrants as part of an ongoing public corruption investigation.
Taylor Mayor Rick Sollars told reporters Tuesday that he’s “cooperating and will continue to do so.” He says he’ll also continue to work hard on behalf of Taylor residents “to make sure that the people’s work gets done.” He says he doesn’t know what the FBI may have been looking for.
The FBI’s Detroit Special Agent in Charge Timothy Slater says agents and members of a public corruption task force converged earlier in the day on Taylor City Hall and several other locations. Details of the raids and what was removed from the offices were not released. Taylor is southwest of Detroit.
