D.C. United star forward Wayne Rooney left the club’s first preseason game of 2019 early with a lower leg injury.
He is, however, only considered day-to-day and United’s first match of the MLS season is a month away, March 3 against Atlanta United.
Rooney told a reporter he was hurt in the lower right shin. He briefly re-entered the game after suffering the injury, but then left for good to be cautious.

United beat Bethlehem Steel, an opponent from the USL Championship, 1-0 in Clearwater, Florida.
