Here’s something you won’t read about every day — a journalist in the mainstream media speaking publicly about the left-leaning bias of the mainstream media.
But that’s what Lara Logan, who worked for years as a foreign correspondent with CBS, just did.
And it’s not as if she were unaware of the career risks she was taking.
“This interview is professional suicide for me,” she said during an interview with retired Navy SEAL Mike Ritland, Mediaite reported.
Soon to be reported everywhere, no doubt.
Here’s what Logan said: “The media everywhere is mostly liberal, not just [in] the U.S.”
Don’t believe it?
Just look at voter registration rolls, she said.
Or Pew Research Center surveys, many of which have shown over the years how most journalists vote in favor of leftist causes such as abortion, open borders and gay marriage — even while claiming, on paper, to be independents.
Logan described the situation this way: “Visually, anyone who’s ever been to Israel and been to the Wailing Wall has seen that the women have this tiny little spot in front of the wall to pray, and the rest of the wall is for the men. To me, that’s a great representation of the American media, in that in this tiny little corner where the women pray, you’ve got Breitbart and Fox News and a few others, and from there on, you have CBS, ABC, NBC, Huffington Post, Politico, whatever, right? All of them. And that’s a problem for me, because even if it was reversed, if it was vastly mostly on the right, that would also be a problem for me.”
CBS, after her comments surfaced, sent out a quick statement saying Logan left the network in mid-2018, Variety reported. In mainstream media Execu-Speak, that means: She’s not one of ours. Don’t blame us.
LOL.
Logan, in the interview, then said what conservatives have been saying for years — and what intolerant liberals have been fighting and opposing: “My experience has been that the more opinions you have, the more ways that you look at everything in life.”
Hey, Berkeley, college of “condemn the conservatives” infamy, are you listening?
Logan went on, turning critical eyes toward coverage of President Donald Trump and saying the way it appears, the media typically puts out a “distortion” for public consumption, packaging the news so “there’s no gray, it’s all one way.”
Well said.
And how about all those unnamed sources the mainstream media members like to use to bring some sizzle to their anti-Trump agendas?
“That’s not journalism,” Logan said. “That’s horses—t. Responsibility for fake news begins with us. We bear some responsibility for that and we’re not taking ownership of that and addressing it. We just want to blame it all on somebody else.”
Somebody give this woman a gold star.
Her words may, in fact, prove “political suicide” for her, but for the rest of us, they’re the sweet sounds of truth — something that’s been sorely lacking in the field of journalism of late. And that makes Logan not just brave for bucking a trend, but actually, a little bit of a hero.
