BOSTON (AP) - Southern New England is expecting modest snowfall going into the Presidents’ Day holiday.
The National Weather Service says the region will see snow starting to fall late Sunday night that will last into Monday afternoon. The Boston-area is expected to get about 3 inches (8 centimeters) starting after midnight. Parts of southeastern Massachusetts and much of Rhode Island could see up to 6 inches (15 centimeters).
And Connecticut is forecast to get about 3 or 4 inches in inland areas and about 2 to 3 inches along the coast. Temperatures will be around 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 degrees Celsius) for much of the region.
The weather service says a second storm could also hit southern New England Thursday. That could bring a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
