The greatest shooter of all time was upset by a former Virginia Cavalier.
Brooklyn Nets forward and former UVA standout Joe Harris beat out Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry to win Saturday’s 3-point contest in Charlotte, North Carolina during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend.
Harris racked up 26 points in the final round — coming away with the victory in Curry’s hometown.
Harris’ win left the crowd stunned. Curry, who holds the record for most 3-pointers made in a season, went cold in the final round.
Curry hit nine of his first 10 shots, but cooled off — finishing with only 24 points.
“Steph is the greatest shooter of all time,” Harris told reporters, via ESPN. “Again, shooting off of the rack for a minute is not indicative of being a better shooter than Steph Curry. I don’t want anybody to get it twisted at all. He’s come in and won this thing [in 2015] and lost. He’s participated a number of different times. So for me to come in my first time and to win obviously is quite a surreal experience.”
Harris spent four years at Virginia (2010-2014) and has been with the Nets since 2016. He is shooting a career-high 50.1 percent from deep this season.
