Now with his grievance against the NFL settled, quarterback Colin Kaepernick still “absolutely” wants to play in the league.
Kaepernick’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, told CNN the 31-year-old wants to “compete at the highest level.” Further, Geragos predicted the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots could be interested in Kaepernick.
“I’ll make the bold prediction — you can save the tape — I think you’re going to see somebody within the next two weeks that somebody is going to step up, somebody is going to do the right thing,” Geragos said. “And you want me to predict who? I will tell you besides the Panthers, it would not surprise me if (Patriots owner) Bob Kraft makes a move.”
On Friday, Kaepernick, safety Eric Reid and the NFL announced they reached a confidential settlement regarding their pending grievance. Before then, Kaepernick and Reid both filed separate grievances alleging owners colluded to keep them out of the NFL after they took a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice.
Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2016. He was last with the San Francisco 49ers.
