BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts Auditor Suzanne Bump is calling on the state Human Resources Division to provide greater oversight of executive branch agency compliance with the diversity and affirmative action policies of Republican Gov. Charlie Baker’s administration.
The Democrat said this week executive branch agencies are required to submit affirmative action and diversity plans that set goals and strategies to diversify the state government workforce.
The audit found the Human Resources Division did not always make sure the agencies filed plans when they were supposed to. She said 18 different executive departments had not submitted at least one of the required plans.
The division said it agrees affirmative action and diversity plans weren’t always filed in a timely manner, but said there are multiple factors that may have contributed to the delay.
