LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a trooper escaped serious injury Saturday when a vehicle slammed into the back of the trooper’s stopped patrol car which was then pushed into a vehicle pulled over during a traffic stop.

The Highway Patrol says the trooper was alongside the vehicle he’d pulled over on U.S. 95 in the Las Vegas area when he had to jump partially into that car’s window to avoid being hit by the errant vehicle.

The trooper’s injuries were described as minor.

The Highway Patrol says the 22-year-old man whose vehicle hit the patrol car was jailed on suspicion of DUI, no seatbelt, reckless driving, failure to use due care, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and possession of a firearm while intoxicated,.
