ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The mayor of Rochester, New York, says her city wants to “make a second pitch” to Amazon now that the company has dropped plans for a New York City headquarters.

The Democrat and Chronicle says Mayor Lovely Warren and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce both held press conferences about Amazon on Thursday.

Chamber President and CEO Robert Duffy called Amazon’s decision “terrible news for New York state.”

But upstate officials are still searching for a silver lining.

Duffy says if Amazon doesn’t want to send Rochester 25,000 jobs, then 5,000 would be good, too.

Democratic Rep. Joseph Morelle, meanwhile, has sent Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos a letter touting the Finger Lakes region.

Buffalo-Rochester, greater Syracuse and the Albany region were originally in the running to win Amazon’s second headquarters.
