Former Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris will play the rest of the NBA season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Athletic reported that Morris agreed to join the Thunder on Thursday, one week after the New Orleans Pelicans waived him on trade deadline day.
The Wizards traded Morris to New Orleans in a move to dump salary and get under the luxury tax bracket.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets also pursued Morris, who was one of the top players on the open market in the wake of a busy trade deadline day Feb. 7.
Before his time in Washington ended, Morris played 34 games this season with 15 starts, averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He hasn’t played since Dec. 26 due to transient cervical neuropraxia causing him neck stiffness, but he’s reportedly been cleared to return.
