LIMA, Ohio (AP) - Police are investigating several shots that broke windows at a synagogue in Ohio.
Officers in Lima (LEYE’-muh) say they believe it’s a case of vandalism and not a hate crime.
They say it appears that several windows at the Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek synagogue were broken Friday night by either a BB gun or pellet gun.
Police say they are adding extra patrols and will look into whether it’s more than vandalism.
Lima Police Sgt. Jason Warren says there are no signs indicating that and he says it’s common to find that type of vandalism in the city.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations said Monday that police should investigate it as a hate crime.
Lima is roughly 80 miles (129 kilometers) southwest of Toledo.
