The Cleveland Browns signed running back Kareem Hunt to a one-year contract on Monday — months after a video emerged of the 23-year-old kicking and shoving a woman at a hotel.
Hunt remains on the league’s Commissioner Exempt list and won’t be eligible to play or practice until taken off of it. But Hunt can now participate in meetings and be around the team once they regroup for OTAs this spring.
Hunt’s deal is worth slightly above the minimum, according to the NFL Network. Players can still be paid while on the Exempt list.
The Kansas City Chiefs released Hunt shortly after TMZ posted the video in late November, saying they were misled by the running back over the incident that took place last February.
In a statement, Browns general manager John Dorsey said they do not condone Hunt’s actions. But he added the team believes Hunt deserves a “second chance” in the NFL.

Dorsey, who was with the Chiefs before the Browns, drafted Hunt in 2017.
