ATLANTA (AP) - Middle school students in Atlanta will be getting a laptop computer and wireless access through a program to provide access to digital resources.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Atlanta Public Schools said each of the 6,000 sixth and seventh grade students will get the laptops.

Wireless access will be provided through T-Mobile, which is providing the project with nearly $1.5 million. The district is spending about $4.5 million this year and next year to pay for the project.

The initiative is the latest by Atlanta schools to provide computer and internet access to all students.
