SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Textile companies are gathering at the University of Rhode Island for the first networking event organized by a new industry group.
The Rhode Island Textile Innovation Network was launched in September to promote textile manufacturing in Rhode Island. It worked with URI’s College of Business and Business Engagement Center to plan a networking fair, which begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
The networking fair aims to connect students and URI faculty with industry leaders.
The event is open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required.
All four members of Rhode Island’s congressional delegation, URI’s president, the state commerce secretary plan and more than 20 industry, higher education and business groups plan to attend.
The innovation network aims to grow the industry and create jobs.
