The San Francisco Giants are “serious” about their interest in Bryce Harper after meeting with the free agent outfielder for four hours last week.
According to USA Today, the Giants have offered Harper a “lucrative short-term deal,” but the precise figures are not known.
In September, the Washington Nationals offered Harper a 10-year, $300 million deal, only for it to be rejected. The Giants, USA Today reported, have no interest in offering the 26-year-old a long-term deal that would approach that figure.
Besides the Giants, the Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres remain interested in the six-time All-Star.
The Giants went 73-89 last season.
