SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - An autopsy says drugs and being restrained contributed to the death of a man who struggled with deputies at the Sacramento County Main Jail.

The Sacramento Bee says the county coroner released a report Friday on 36-year-old Marshall Miles. It found methamphetamine, amphetamine and other drugs in his body and abrasions on his wrists and ankles.

Miles also had broken ribs but the report says that may have occurred during efforts to revive him.

Miles was arrested Oct. 28 after callers reported he was jumping on cars.

He struggled with deputies during booking. Video showed Miles complaining he couldn’t breathe before being hogtied and taken to a cell, where he stopped breathing. He died days later.

The coroner says Miles died from cardiopulmonary arrest complications during restraint and drug intoxication.
