LANSING, Mich. (AP) -
Nearly 150 parcels of public land will be offered for sale at an upcoming auction, Michigan officials said.
The auction is set to begin Tuesday and bids will be accepted through Jan. 8, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.
The properties range in size from less than an acre to 160 acres. Some feature lake views, river access and scenic trails.
Most of the 147 parcels are in the central and northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula. Several of the largest are in Alpena, Dickinson and Newaygo counties.
Much of the land up for sale is isolated from other property the department manages, according to DNR real estate specialist Michael Michalek. Some parcels offer little public recreation benefit or are considered better suited for private ownership.
Information about the auction is available online.
