COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. (AP) - A firefighter has died after falling from a condominium building in a Colorado ski community.
Ken Jones, 46, had climbed to the roof of the five-story building in search of access to a fire early Saturday in Copper Mountain, according to a Summit Fire & EMS news release.
It was the first death in the department’s history, the Denver Post reports.
The 20-year veteran of the fire department was known for his “quiet demeanor and can-do attitude,” Summit Fire & EMS Chief Jeff Berino said in a statement.
The cause of the fall, as well as the fire, will be investigated by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
No foul play is suspected.
