The Washington Redskins may get a chance to play against Eli Manning one more time.

New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur announced Wednesday rookie quarterback Daniel Jones has a high-ankle sprain, telling reporters it is “very likely” Manning will start Monday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Shurmur did not say if Jones will miss the rest of the season, but described Jones’ ankle sprain as “moderate.”

The Giants have four games remaining on their schedule and will face the Redskins on Dec. 22 at FedEx Field.

Shurmur said Jones’ injury isn’t as severe as Saquon Barkley’s high-ankle sprain from earlier in the season, which caused the running back to miss three games.

But the Giants are 2-10, which means they could be extra cautious in letting Jones return from injury. Why risk any additional damage to the 22-year-old when the season is already lost?

Manning, meanwhile, has not played since Week 2. After starting the first two games, the 37-year-old was benched.
