Rui Hachimura will sit out “a couple weeks” as he continues to rehab a groin injury, Washington Wizards coach Scott Brooks told reporters Tuesday.

Teammate Isaac Bonga accidentally kicked Hachimura in the groin during a game Dec. 16 against the Detroit Pistons. The Japanese-born rookie has missed seven games since. The team’s initial diagnosis mentioned that he would miss at least five games and be re-evaluated at that time.

The ninth overall pick was averaging 13.9 points and 5.8 rebounds before being sidelined.

The Wizards are dealing with a pile of other injured players, including Bradley Beal, Davis Bertans, Thomas Bryant, Moe Wagner and, of course, John Wall.

Beal’s streak of 194 consecutive games played was recently snapped; he’s missed the Wizards’ last two games with right leg soreness. Brooks said Beal is questionable for Wednesday’s New Year’s Day matchup against the Orlando Magic.
