Maryland running back Anthony McFarland declared for the 2020 NFL Draft on Tuesday.

One of the handful of bright spots on a 3-9 Terrapins team, the redshirt sophomore ran for 614 yards and eight touchdowns on the year, including a season-long 80-yard touchdown against Rutgers.

McFarland thanked Maryland fans, teammates and coaches in a social media post.

“Reaching the highest level has always been a dream of mine and I can’t wait to seize that opportunity,” McFarland wrote.

The Hyattsville, Maryland native and DeMatha Catholic High School product finished with 1,636 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns in his two seasons in College Park.

The NFL draft website Walter Football rates McFarland as the 13th-best running back in the Class of 2021 and sees him as a third-to-fifth-round pick.
