BALTIMORE — At the end of a decade in which numerous passing records fell and fell again, the Baltimore Ravens are doing things a bit differently.
The Ravens broke the record for most rushing yards by a team in a single season in the second quarter of their Week 17 game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A 9-yard rush by running back Gus Edwards pushed the Ravens’ season total to 3,172 and counting. The previous record was 3,165, set by the 1978 New England Patriots — 41 years ago.
Edwards, fellow running back Justice Hill and backup quarterback Robert Griffin III handled the offense as starters Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram sat out the game. Baltimore entered Week 17 with the No. 1 AFC playoff seed already in hand, so the coaching staff chose to rest several key players.
